Great Scotland Yard Hotel launches Bond Inspired Afternoon Tea in Partnership with Floris London

The 5* luxury Great Scotland Yard Hotel, situated in the heart of Westminster, has launched a unique multi-sensory afternoon tea, in partnership with Royal Warrant holder, Floris London. The Afternoon Tea is inspired by the notes of the historical British perfumiers luxury fragrance “No. 89”, which takes its name from the number of the Floris shop and perfumery on Jermyn Street. Ian Fleming, writer and creator of James Bond was a regular customer of Floris and he first featured the products in his novel, Moonraker, in 1955. No. 89 Eau de Toilette was created the year before his first novel was published in 1951 and the scent soon became a favourite of the James Bond author.

89 Jermyn Street was originally the family home and remains very much the beating heart of the perfume house today, “No. 89” was created in the sub-basement which was traditionally known as ‘The Mine’ and is where all of the Floris fragrances were created up until the late 1970s.

Taking place in The Parlour, a room which draws on tales of Britain’s Victorian explorers, the multi-sensory Afternoon Tea has been created by the hotel’s Head Pastry Chef, Verónica Garrido Martínez, allowing guests the opportunity to explore this exclusive scent.

The scent is reflected through an assortment of delicious cakes and patisserie that incorporate the key notes from the fragrance including Cedarwood, Bergamot, Lavender and Neroli. Indulge in savoury finger sandwiches from ‘French Marans hen egg truffle mayo on briochette’ to ‘Chicken and raisin coronation on granary bread’ and ‘Broccoli and crispy maple streaky bacon quiche’. Dine in on an assortment of cakes and patisseries including ‘Bergamot & white chocolate mousse’ and ‘Blue Mountain Coffee, nutmeg & Talisker whisky chocolate tart’.
