Hotel Saint has officially opened its doors as one of the newest independent hotels in East London.
Previously the Dorsett City London, the property has undergone a brand transformation to relaunch as Hotel Saint – a next generation hotel in an ancient neighbourhood. It is chic, cool and fit for the discerning traveller to work, rest and play.
Located in the heart of ‘The Square Mile’ and inspired by the site’s ancient 2,000-year-old Roman history, Hotel Saint is at the crossroads of several of London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods – including Spitalfields, Shoreditch and Whitechapel as well as being one hour from Stanstead and Heathrow Airports, making it a perfect base for business or leisure in the city. Hotel Saint aims to offer an elevated and personalised service but at accessible rates, with distinctive Food & Beverage including an all-day dining restaurant and rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city.
Owned and managed by Highgate, the contemporary, 14 floor hotel sits within walking distance of many historical, tourist, gastronomic and cultural attractions. The Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Brick Lane and Borough Market as well as Whitechapel Gallery, artisan coffee shops and restaurants from around the world are all on the hotel’s doorstep.
To bring the Hotel Saint vision to life on-property, Shoreditch based interior design firm, Child Studio, has been enlisted to renovate and re-concept the lobby experience complete with warm wooden wall panelling, bronze accents and modern mid-century furniture to create a welcoming entrance and lounge.
All 267 guest rooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows filling each room with natural light, many with views across the Square Mile, Tower Bridge or the historic, neighbouring St Botolph’s Church. A classic, neutral hued interior scheme creates a calm space to relax in, with 400 thread count Egyptian cotton bed linen, and plush robes and slippers. All bathrooms feature invigorating spa showers with a choice of pressure settings and English amenities brand Land & Water has provided natural and sustainable bath and body products.
The hotel is proud of its historical site; located on one of seven ancient entrances into London, once known as ‘Aeldgate’ (now Aldgate) 2,000 years ago, and old London names and spellings of the locale have been used for room names, such as Spitel Fyeld and Botolph.
Hotel Saint benefits from a unique Food & Beverage offering with an all-day dining restaurant and a rooftop bar: The VQ Aldgate brasserie on the ground floor offers 24 hours of dining and drinking with a 60-seat restaurant and an outdoor terrace. From buttermilk pancakes for breakfast to BBQ ribs for dinner, to a post night out gourmet burger and local craft beer in the early hours. The rooftop bar at the hotel, Jin Bo Law, on the 14th floor, offers sweeping panoramic views of the City including the Shard and the Gherkin.
