A getaway to the Cotswolds is the perfect way to step into the New Year. Cobwebs blown away and ready to embrace the year ahead it’s an escape that offers apicture-perfectbreak in an idyllic setting, filled with charming villages, quaint chocolate box cottages and beautiful countryside.

A uniquely renovated 18th century barn in the quintessentially English village of Duns Tew, Oxfordshire was to be our home for a couple of days, ready to escape and enjoy a slower pace of life before the manicness of a New Year begins.

The Barn has been lovingly renovated and brought to life by artist and creative director Kelly Jackson who has designed a space that not only maintains many of the original features, but also incorporates bold and quirky touches.

Curve stone walls, an original log burner and wooden beams retain the barn’s historical character, captivating that idyllic cosy cottage feel. Whilst colour-blocking, geometric shapes, boldartwork and bright colours accessorise the large open plan kitchen and living area effortlessly. Contrasts of yellow and blackfurther enhance the eclectic aesthetic that blends a contemporary, rustic look gracefully.

All on one level, The Barn has two beautifully designed bedrooms that embody a blend of rustic charm and modern luxury.

The main en-suite bedroom has an exposed stone wall with a carefully curated window seat to curl up and read a good book, drink your morning coffee or just look dreamily onto the garden. With the comfiest bed, large dressing area and whitewashed wallsaccentuated with forest green hues. The skylight projects a light and airy space that creates your own little sanctuary and if you do need to flip your laptop on and do a little work there’s a dedicated work space, complete with desk, quirky artwork and a ‘lilac’ hippo lampto make you smile.

The other bedroom is a haven of green hues, soaked with natural light that elevates the room through its large skylight, lime green side tables, chequered cushions and cosy throws – the whole look is a soothing colour palette that leaves you feeling relaxed and refreshed all in one go.

And it doesn’t end there, step outside into your own littlesanctuary. The south-facing garden has everything you need. Whether it’s a winter BBQ whilst snuggling under blankets on the outside lounge set, sipping hot chocolate as you sit in a deckchair looking up at the stars or enjoying an alfresco meal around the spacious wooden dining table, the choice is yours. Surrounded by trees and bushes privacy isn’t an issue it is just another design element of this rural retreat that has you wanting to escape to time and time again.
