The London Essence Company have announced the launch of The Light House: an immersive journey through the essence of light – where perception-shifting light design meets low-calorie cocktails crafted using London Essences’ fine mixers by some of the world’s most influential bartenders.
Specially commissioned for London Cocktail Week (Monday 1st October – Saturday 6th October), The Light House will extol all the benefits of a lighter life under one roof. Guests will witness a multisensory experience through colour, scent, sight and sound, as they sample a selection of inventive light cocktails, each under 150 calories.
By day The Light House will offer a sensory escape from the reality of our busy lives, where light is used to create a space of relaxation, serenity and clarity. By night The Light House becomes a must-see destination; refracting, reflecting, illuminating and stimulating everyone who steps inside.
During each of the six nights the house will welcome an industry-leading bartender, handpicked by London Essence from some of the world’s most revered bars and hotels. Already confirmed to appear at The Light House is former head bartender at The Savoy’s American Bar, Erik Lorincz and Master Mixologist at The Connaught, Italian Ago Perrone. Erik and Ago will be joined by four other mixologists, who will each will explore their own interpretation of light to craft low-calorie cocktails using the finest spirits and London Essence’s range of tonics, gingers and sodas.
Commenting on the opening of The Light House, Ounal Bailey of The London Essence Company says: “The essence of light is weaved into everything we do at London Essence and it’s our mission to educate and enlighten people about the benefits of light and low-calorie drinks. We’re the only mixers made with distilled essences, designed to accentuate the finest spirits and create the lightest drinks – and we’ve commissioned The Light House to bring this to life. It’s going to be a completely unique experience during London Cocktail Week and we can’t wait to open it to the public in October.”
Visitors to the space will experience The Light House’s crowning glory – a bespoke 3m x 3m prismatic sculpture, comprised of 150 faceted glass rods injected with intense hues. When hit with moving projections, the one-of-kind installation will come alive; throwing and refracting shards of light throughout the room.
Guests can also partake in a programme of ‘Light Talks’ exploring a lighter life, in partnership with Healthy Hospo – a community not-for-profit organisation providing information, advice, support, and training on all aspects of mental and physical health in the hospitality industry. The series will see the likes of James Wong (botanist and broadcaster) and Ben Branson (Founder & CEO at Seedlip) deliver talks on topics such as well-being, alcohol-free future, mindfulness and using light to improve nutritional values in ingredients.
Tickets to The Light House will be available on Time Out for £12, which provides guests with entry to the installation and two low-calorie cocktails designed by one of the world’s leading bartenders. Separate tickets to the Light Talks can be purchased at a later date through Healthy Hospo for £10.
The Light House will be located at 5-7 Grape Street, WC2H 8DW – a short walk from Tottenham Court Road Underground (3 minutes) Covent Garden Underground (6 minutes).
