Doggy Heaven at Bethnal & Bec

    Bethnal and Bec, a luxury self-catering retreat provides an ideal rural bolthole for those wanting to bring their four-legged friend along with them for a getaway in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside.

    Located in the picturesque village of Cottered, Bethnal & Bec provides the perfect base from which to explore this delightful area, boasting extensive footpath and bridleway networks so guests can get out and about with their dogs, exploring this stunning part of the world before returning to relax and enjoy the deluxe facilities which boast some special doggy extras.

    Each retreat has a private fenced garden complete with outdoor hot tub and direct access to a private 1.5 acre dog exercise field. Inside there are Netflix loaded TVs which can be enjoyed on a flip down cinema screen, wood burner, under floor heating, a vinyl record player with wide choice of music, roll top bath, rain forest shower plus lots more.

    Pampered pouches are well catered for, a dog amenity pack is provided with each stay which includes dog biscuits, a doggy beer, throws, towels, doggie shower, dog shampoo & dog magazines. Additional Green & Wilds natural and healthy products are available to purchase in the pantry.

    The units have fully stocked kitchen and pantry with everything you’d need to rustle up a hearty meal, however for those that prefer not to cook there is a choice of locally home-made meals in the freezer or there is a Dine In menu option which offers a wide range of pre-order food experiences including a make-your-own pizza set (to prepare in the on-site pizza oven), a selection of BBQ goods, gourmet hot chocolate pack and ‘pop-your-own’ posh popcorn. In addition, there is an extensive wine cellar and fully stocked bar.

    The large number of walking routes starting from Bethnal and Bec vary in length, recommended walks include a three-hour circular route which takes in an abandoned village, a Roman Road and moated house, or a 45-minute walk waking in a windmill, church farm and stream.

    Dog friendly pubs in the local area include The Fox at Aspenden which does a fantastic Sunday roast and is a three mile walk away  (or 10 minute drive) The Bushel & Strike (15 minute drive) offers a modern take on coal cooking- the oldest form of cooking, and the historic Fox and Duck which is located on the village green in Therfield (also a 15 minute drive), is often described as a well-disguised gastropub and offers dogs free treats at the bar.
