Raise a pint to summer at the Marquess of Anglesey, as one of Covent Garden’s most historic pubs, has reopened its doors following an extensive refurbishment. Located on Bow Street in the heart of theatreland, the striking Young’s pub has been beautifully redesigned whilst staying true to its traditional pub roots.
Set over three floors, be welcomed back to the comfort of the pub, which has transformed throughout to encompass traditional features, a first-floor dining lounge and a stunning new rooftop bar, complete with a retractable roof, ready to welcome you come rain or shine.
Expect a menu that champions seasonal British produce, great cask ales and beers, as well as wines and contemporary cocktails. Open from breakfast through to dinner, the all-day menus focus on quintessential pub classics with a twist, where seasonal British produce takes centre stage. Signature dishes include Devon crab and avocado toast, a Treacle & ale mustard glazed ham with Burford brown egg, burned butter and chipsand 300g Oxfordshire Sirloin steak with triple cooked chips.
Sundays play host to Young’s signature roasts of Beef rump, Porchetta with braised pig cheek or Beetroot and swede wellington, all served with duck-fat roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
Behind the bar, find an extensive drinks list of local craft beers and ales, alongside a vast selection of wines. The perfect spot for after-work drinks, pre-theatre bites and friendly catchups, there is also a curated list of classic cocktails and spritz to enjoy, from Passionfruit Martinis to Palomas and a Marmalade Mule.
A proper pub, the interiors have been sensitively restored with traditional features in the main bar including a stained dark oak bar, antique mirrors and polished brass finishings. Upstairs is the dining room, complete with velvet booths and a decorative tin tiled ceiling for relaxed dining, whilst this summer, it’s all about drinks at the rooftop bar.
