The Roast takes Centre Stage

Roast has taken centre stage on the Bill of Fare at landmark London restaurant Simpson’s in the Strand for nearly two centuries; while downstairs diners can savour a full roast with all the trimmings, upstairs at Knight’s Bar guests can enjoy the most decadent bar snack to accompany their cocktails the Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding Sandwich.

A comforting antidote to the gloomy Autumn weather, the hearty roast is not solely reserved for Sundays at Simpson’s. The historic restaurant serves traditional roasts daily with the beautiful cut of beef theatrically wheeled to the table on an antique Victorian silver-domed trolley and carved in front of diners by the restaurant’s ‘Master Carver’.

Meanwhile, tucked away upstairs, at the beautiful Art Deco Knight’s Bar, cocktail-quaffers can order Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding Sandwich (£12). This light and billowing Yorkshire pud is sliced open and filled with 28 day dry-aged roast rib of Scottish beef, crisp and golden beef fat roast potatoes and horseradish sauce served with a delicate silver boat of rich gravy.
