“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”.
When it comes to having a career, you should feel as much pas- sion, love and enjoyment towards it as you do with any other positive aspect in your life. Yet, sadly, most people suffer with a job they either loathe or find no fulfilment in, and most of the time they endure it only to ensure bills are paid – but it doesn’t have to be this way.
The International Authority for Professional Coaching & Mentoringis the leading accreditation authority for professional coaches. Here, one of their accredited coaches offers up 5 ways to attract your dream job.
Have a Positive Mental Attitude – changing your mind-set can really help when it comes to a career change – if you promote positive energy and thinking, then you’re bound to attract positive things. If you think negative thoughts, such as “I am going to be stuck in this job forever”, then you are never go- ing to make the changes you need.
Believe in Yourself – somebody has to get the job, so why not you? A career change always comes with the possibility of rejection, but as long as you remind yourself that you are worth something, you won’t take the rejection to heart and keep on believing that you can find that job you love.
Identify your Skills – make a list or tell yourself of the great skills you have. Perhaps you’re an excellent leader, or have a wealth of experience in a certain area which will be transferable to a career you would love. Once you’ve reminded yourself of your assets, use them to approach a new job.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help – any change in life can be difficult, especially job-related. Be sure to make use of the people around you, ask for support and advice from friends and family if needed, or even professional advice from experts in the field you’re looking into. You can even consider coaching from skilled people who can give you that mental boost you may need.
Make every step count – if you’ve identified the field of work you’d love to go into, from that point for- ward make sure every decision is a step closer to it, and not a step back. Only accept things which take you to where you want to be, and don’t waste any more time doing things pulling you further away.
