Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with these Three Unique Irish-Inspired Cocktails

When you think of St. Patrick’s Day, drinking is always one of the first things that comes to mind.

March is full of festivities, but one for the cocktail calendar is the 17th March – St. Patrick’s Day. To get the party started, all you need is a green shirt, some decorations and a drink (or two) in hand. Of course, you can crack open a Guinness or pour a whiskey, but what’s more festive than a St. Paddy’s Day inspired cocktail?

Drinks retailer The Bottle Clubhas teamed up with Madison London’s head mixologist, Michele Lombardito create three Irish-inspired cocktails to shake up on St. Patrick’s Day 2021. These drinks combine classic Irish spirits such as Slane Irish whiskey,  Bushmills Irish whiskey and even a top-up of Guinness beer.

THE IRISH MAN

An Irish take on the classic cocktail Americano. For this recipe, you’ll use Guinness beer instead of soda and top with Jamerson Irish whiskey for the ultimate kick.

What you need:

40 ml Jameson whiskey

20 ml Campari bitter

10 ml Martini extra dry vermouth

Top up Guinness beer

How to make it:

Grab your mixing glass, add all the ingredients except the stout. Fill it up with ice and gently stir to chill the mixture. After that, strain and pour in a tumbler glass with ice and top up with a splash of Guinness beer.

Garnish with a slice of fresh orange.

ST. PATRICK FIZZ

Creamy riff of a classic cocktail Morning Glory fizz, using Irish whiskey and a touch of spice with fresh ginger. Finished off with ginger ale instead of a classic club soda.

What you need:

45 ml Bushmills Irish whiskey

20 ml of lemon juice

15 ml of sugar syrup

2 slices fresh ginger

1 egg white

Top up ginger ale

How to make it:

Grab your cocktail shaker, add all the ingredients and shake without ice to get a nice froth. Then fill up your cocktail shaker with ice, shake and strain in a chilled tall glass adding the ginger ale till the top.

Garnish with a slice of fresh ginger and a twist of lemon.

IRISH AND FAMOUS

An Irish spin on the classic cocktail Naked and Famous. Using Irish whiskey rather than Mezcal, and green Chartreuse instead of Yellow. Perfect as an aperitif!

What you need:

25 ml Slane Irish whiskey

25 ml Aperol liqueur

25 ml fresh lime juice

25 ml Green Chartreuse

How to make it:

Grab your cocktail shaker and add all the ingredients. Fill it up with ice, shake and strain in a chilled cocktail coupe.

Garnish with a dry lime wheel or a twist of fresh lime zest.
