Bedford, are you ready? For three days of awesome concerts.
The countdown continues to a weekend of fabulous live music taking place in Bedford Park this August (3rd – 5th).
Friday 3rd August sees the legendary Billy Ocean entertaining you with hits such as, ‘Love Really Hurts Without You’, ‘Caribbean Queen’ ‘Suddenly’, ‘When the Going gets Tough (the tough gets going),’ as well as the now classic Get Outta My Dreams; Get into My Car and many many more! An iconic artist that crosses over all generations!
Joining him will be international soul singer Jaki Graham, Reggae band Aswad, Loose Ends ft Carl McIntosh, and The Christians. With iconic musicians such as these, the Friday night will be full of ‘Caribbean Queens’ dancing round their handbags!
Saturday 4th August gets a more modern twist and sees Jess Glynne headlining. Jess is one of only two British female solo artists to have five consecutive UK number one singles. 2016 was a further massive year for Jess, with a sold-out UK arena tour under her belt plus she was nominated for British Breakthrough Act, British Female Solo Artist and British Single for ‘Hold My Hand’ at the prestigious Brit Awards. More recently she teamed up with Tinie Tempah on the smash hit single ‘Not Letting Go’.
Taking the stage with Jess on the Saturday night is Basement Jaxx, who’ll be entertaining the crowd with his legendary DJ sets.
Finally, Sunday 5thAugust brings the Pomp and Patronism back to Bedford Park, in the form of Proms in the Park, an evening of classical music that this year includes Lesley Garrett, who is known for her cross-over repertoire that stretches from Mozart to Meat Loaf via West End Musicals; reaching places that other opera stars can only dream of. A fantastic leading lady for Bedford’s 2018 Proms.
Joining Lesley will be tenor Jeff Stewart, The London Gala Orchestra and the Bedford Choral Society – and as the concert comes to an end for a final time this year, you’ll be treated to an amazing firework and laser display that’ll have everyone wanting more.
