The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is offering glittering galas and perfect parties this Christmas and New Year, as well as opportunities to just relax and embrace the festive season.
The luxurious five-star hotel, which dates from the 19th century, when it was popular with the Victorian aristocracy, provides the kind of traditional comfort and service which makes it easy to unwind.
The Grand also creates a very special time for children, with fun activities and entertainment throughout their stay, including quizzes, sports and a pantomime visit.
The four-day Christmas House Party from 23 – 27 December is a complete festive experience, including a warm welcome with afternoon tea on arrival, served in the lounges and accompanied by Shelley van Loen and the Palm Court Strings. A Champagne Reception and Sunday Roast dinner will be served later, followed by dancing to the Simon Goodwin Band.
On Christmas Eve there will be time to do some last-minute gift shopping by taking the hotel’s coach to town – or enjoy a tailored tour of the cellars and a unique opportunity to taste a range of Champagnes. The Health Club will be open to pamper yourself and there’s also a family general knowledge quiz. In the evening, a choir will lead the singing in the Great Hall, followed by Champagne and dinner, with music from the dance band ‘Co Stars’.
Start Christmas Day with a hearty English breakfast and see the surprise on children’s faces when they are greeted with a gift from Santa Claus. Perhaps take a wander along the promenade afterwards, to join the revellers at the Bandstand for a rousing family Christmas concert – or take a drive onto the South Downs and view the spectacular coastline from Beachy Head.
Having worked up an appetite, sit back with a sherry and listen to seasonal jazz favourites played in the Great Hall, before tucking in to a Grand Christmas Day Buffet. The festivities reach a crescendo on Christmas evening with Champagne in the Drawing Room, followed by a very traditional Christmas Dinner in the Garden Restaurant and dancing to the Simon Goodwin Band.
Boxing Day brings the chance for some sport or pampering – head out for a stroll along to the Bandstand for a dance or take a swim in the pool before enjoying a lavish buffet lunch including mouth-watering suckling pig.
In the afternoon all young guests are in for a treat, with tickets reserved to watch the pantomime ‘Cinderella’ at the nearby Devonshire Park Theatre. Everyone will be able to come together later for the gala evening dinner.
Or choose to celebrate the New Year at The Grand, with a choice of one-and-two-night luxury breaks, including champagne receptions, Gala dinners and dancing until after midnight. There will be trips into Eastbourne and the chance to enjoy the hotel’s impressive leisure facilities including the pool, gymnasium, whirlpool, sauna and solarium.
Finish your stay with an invigorating walk; Eastbourne is often ranked as being the UK’s sunniest town, and while The Grand Hotel is affectionately known as ‘The White Palace’, you may not see snow but may catch some white-crested waves breaking on shore!
Prices for the four-day Christmas Party are from just £1120pp (two sharing) and from £280pp (two sharing) for the New Year celebration.
