Every now and then we all need a little escapism from juggling everyday life, whether it’s family, work pressures, or burning the candle at both ends, sometimes you just have to say enough is enough and take some time just for you!
Which is exactly what I did, after a busy month of working round the clock, I decided to book myself in for a Bespoke Back Massage from the amazing Jo, owner of Holistic Healing by Jo. Jo is passionate about reiki and massage and through compassion and listening she will tailor treatments so that you get just the right one for you.
Jo works from a beautiful and relaxing therapy suite in Ampthill as well as a room at her home in Bedford. Walking in to Jo’s treatment room (we went to Ampthill) instantly you feel transported into a calm and peaceful ambience that has yourelaxing before you’re even on the massage table.
Before she begins, Jo discusses how I’m feeling, what I want to feel after the treatment, if I have any worries etc all of which help her plan the best aromatherapy oils, holistic approach and massage that is best suited to my needs.
The bespoke massage aims to provide sixty minutes of deep relaxation, and to ease away muscle tension especially in the neck, back and shoulders. Combining techniques from Swedish and Aromatherapy, Jo uses warm oil (she chose body repair for me) to create flow within the body, and later adds hot stones and the gentle technique that allows them to gently slide all over your body.
This was pure heaven, I was lost in a bubble of blissful relaxation, with my whole body feeling light and energized – it was as if I didn’t have a care in the world. This luxury massage is fuelled with Reiki energy, therefore enhancing deeper relaxation and promoting an overall state of balance mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally, which is exactly how I felt, the tension was literally melting from my body with each touch.
Ididn’t think I could get anymore relaxed, but the treatment is finished with a mini Indian head massage and facial, using acupressure techniques that help to restore karma in the body. It uses a combination of massage and pressure points to focus on the energy centres known as your chakras, and as each point was gently stimulated, it was as if she had pulled a plug and I could literally feel all the negative energy slowly releasing from my body.
After a few more relaxing moments this amazing treatment came to an end, I could have laid there all day it was such a serene way to get my body back to being balanced and my mind clear and focused.
It’s no wonder this treatment is popular not only with females but also male clients as it is intense and gentle, chaotic and balanced and leaves you with a feeling of peace and tranquillity.
