‘Sounds’ Recording Studio launches at La Pirogue, Mauritius,

La Pirogue, the boho-chic hotel set on the west coast of Mauritius, is proud to unveil ‘Sounds’, the world’s first professional recording studio in a hotel environment. Music has always been at the heart of La Pirogue’s culture, and for those wishing to explore their inner rock star, ‘Sounds’ is a world class studio just a stone’s throw away from a pristine, golden beach fringed by lush greenery and more than 4,000 coconut trees.

A music lover’s dream, ‘Sounds’ provides a mixture of cutting edge equipment and paradisiacal surroundings. No studio in the world offers such a setting, with La Pirogue providing the perfect tropical backdrop for artists and beginners alike to hit the best notes of their lives and get the creative juices flowing. This unique offering is a perfect extension of all that La Pirogue embraces  – a stunning, creative environment, in harmony with local life and culture whilst offering exceptional and unforgettable experiences for guests.

A recording environment that has so far not existed in Mauritius, ‘Sounds’ will act as a hub to attract international artists, musicians and producers, whilst both local talent and guests are also invited to try their hand at everything from sound engineering to producing, singing to DJ’ing. The studio is located on the first floor of the hotel’s main building, with floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto stunning panoramic views; coconut trees as far as the eye can see and white sandy shores. With most studios often being located in dark spaces in the depth of buildings, La Pirogue is offering something different for aspiring singers and a unique offering for hotel guests looking to create timeless memories with friends or family.

There is much on offer at the studio – guests and artists can book in for a few hours, for the day or even for up to three weeks at a time. The ‘Star of the Day’ package allows guests to use the studio for the day to record a track in the same way a professional artist would. Bespoke packages can be created, including the option of also creating a soundtrack plus video as a priceless memento to take home. For professional artists or singers, the ‘Studio Sun’ package allows the studio to be rented for a fortnight period, perfect for those seeking creative inspiration in the midst of La Pirogue’s stunning environment. Other options include learning how to work on the music itself in the editing suite, as either a sound engineer or music producer, or perfecting the art of mixing tunes and hitting the decks as a DJ.

La Pirogue took meticulous care in developing the studio, both in terms of noise management and standard of equipment. The walls are perfectly soundproof, with less than 25 decibels of background noise, guaranteeing the optimal recording conditions. With a range of recording rooms, artists can choose the perfect space to suit their needs. To continue building on the offering of ‘Sounds’ and ensuring La Pirogue’s status as the creative hub of the island, the hotel is planning to further support local talent by acting as a middle-man when international artists are seeking Mauritian artists to partner with, as well as creating their own label for Mauritian artists.

The opening of ‘Sounds’ comes as part of La Pirogue’s recent renovation, which saw the hotel widely strengthen its offering for guests including the introduction of the Van Der Stel Wine Bar concept. Unique on the island, the concept offers different wines from across the globe sorted by taste and flavour. Guests can add credit onto a wine membership card so they can easily embark on their wine experience throughout their holiday, assisted by the hotel’s team of expert sommeliers.

A pioneer of hospitality in Mauritius, La Pirogue has an unrivalled charm complete with thatch-roof bungalows, endless pristine beaches and picturesque views of the Indian Ocean. Alongside the recording studio, guests can choose from the resort’s many complimentary activities to make their stay unforgettable, including paddle boarding, windsurfing, kayaking, diving and snorkelling to enjoy the surrounding crystal clear waters, or unwinding in the Cinq Mondes Spa, providing a range of healing traditions from around the world. Nature and the local environment are also ripe for exploring – guests can take advantage of nature walks and guided tours of the exotic gardens, introducing them to the 23 endemic plants within the resort, or rent a bicycle to explore further afield. Back at the hotel, unwind at the numerous restaurant options, including Coconut Café, the ultimate spot to enjoy the laid-back island way of life over a long lunch or relaxed dinner, serving unparalleled fresh local delicacies. Golfers will also be in heaven as La Pirogue offers unlimited green fees on the world-renowned championship golf course on the island of Ile Aux Cerfs, designed by Bernhard Langer.
