Last month saw us indulging in the new spring menu at The World’s End Market restaurant in Chelsea. Located on the Kings Road in a stunning multi-tiered Grade II listed establishment.
The ground floor of the World’s End Market houses a 70-cover restaurant, stripped back and uncomplicated in design; Reclaimed wooden crates have been re worked to create the woodwork on the walls and bar. Continuing the theme of reclaimed materials even some of the Harry Potter Hogwarts set, predominantly and impressive doorframe, has been incorporated into the design. This Grade II listed building took over 20 months to restore. Flooded with natural light, this high-ceilinged dining area is evocative of a 1930s canteen, and was the perfect place for a press lunch hosted by JPR Media Group for this year’s Grand Prix Ball 2018. Alongside other media we were joined by the original Stig, Perry McCarthy and Jonny Dodge the founder and CEO of GP Management, hosts of the Grand Prix Ball 2018.
Cocktails were served from the old fashioned bar area where the barman did an impressive Tom Cruise impression, and produced a just as impressive delicious tasting cocktail, an ‘Aviation Lesson’ a refreshing twist on an absolute classic, Rhubarb infused Tanqueray Gin, Maraschino Liqueur, Violette Liqueur and Perrier JouetChampagne, perfect to whet our palettes for the new springtime lunch menu.
For starters, you can enjoy a super quinoa salad with pumpkin seeds, pomegranate, rocket, sweet pepper and lime dressing a rainbow of colours exploding with different flavours and an ever so slight kick. For those looking for fresh fish the green gazpacho with salmon tartare is just perfect, delicately presented, fresh and a real treat to the tastebuds. The pan-fried chicken liver with caramelised apple and fried sage was cooked to perfection, soft and tender and literally melted in the mouth and the beef Carpaccio with mixed salad and Parmesan dressing was an amalgamation of different tastes and textures.
Mains are just as impressive with a baked sea bream, cherry tomato sauce and dilled rice, soft and flavoursome and perfect for pescatarians. A spicy chermoula chicken with Israeli couscous brings a touch of the Middle East to Chelsea. The Asian style grilled beef with rice noodle salad is a lighter dish but no less tasty, and is perfect when accompanied with the potato gnocchi, sun blushed tomatoes, green beans & pesto sauce.
And the fête d accomplice ifyou’re a steak lover is the Halal certified Chuleta de Vaca Cow, Bone-in Rib Eye Steak. Which is cooked to perfection by in house chef Tony Sanders.
To satisfy your sweet tooth cravings is dessert a homely selection of chocolate mousse, carrot & orange cake and ice cream.
The World’s End Market boasts that they serve the world’s best steak, finest seafood and handcrafted cocktails, a bold statement, but one I totally agree with.
