Venetian Romance at Hilton Molino Stucky Venice

Venice, renowned for its Centuries-old architecture, cobblestone alleys and maze of canals is quite literally unlike anywhere else you’ll ever visit. Known to be one of the most romantic cities in the world and the most perfect destination for a European honeymoon or romantic getaway, with the fervour of love around every corner, and no matter how many times you visit it always takes your breath away.

Just a five-minute boat ride across the Grand Canal away from the heart of Venice is Giudecca island,a peaceful haven full of historical architecture, an authentic atmosphere and narrow picturesque streets.A unique place to visit, lined with impressive Renaissance and Gothic buildings,it’s the perfect place to enjoy the best of both worlds, a sanctuary of peace and calm without the crowds.

And it’s here on Giudecca island that the luxurious 5-star Hilton Molino Stucky Venice stands proud, housed in an 18thcentury listed building that was once one of Italy’s most influential flour mills, and now recognised internationally as an iconic example of European industrial architecture.  The hotel offers guests the most stunning views of Venice having you feel as if you’re in a real-life Renaissance masterpiece, the most romantic place for a couples getaway.

The hotel mixes traditional and industrial effortlessly, with high ceilings and wide walkways, it’s a Venetian sensation of hidden delights, whether it’s showcasing intricately carved furnishings, ornate gilded mirrors or opulent glass hues, the luxuriously sumptuous surroundings is reminiscent of Venetian glamour at its best.

From deluxe rooms to the Presidential suite, each room, of which there are 379 in total, has a unique style fusing contemporary and luxury in design.

Our room, was a calming palette of neutral panelled walls, with gold and grey accents accentuating an alluring ambience that evokes images of Venetian grandeur, continuinginto the bathroom with its opulent marble walls and floors. The pièce de résistancethough, is the breath-taking views –the window frames them effortlessly just like Monet’s Le Grand Canal painting, the most perfect spot to pull up a chair, open a bottle of champagne and just watch the world float by.

Another perfect choice for views is the hotel’s rooftop Skyline Bar (the highest in Venice) and the most idyllic place, could there be anything more romantic than sharing a cocktail or two as you watch the sunset over the city of ‘Love’.

Downstairs on the ground floor, is the Rialto Lobby Bar and Restaurant – perfect for lunch or a midday snack, plus Il Molino where breakfast is served in two of the original flour mill buildings, whether your tastebuds are craving sweet or savoury the choice is not only endless it’s authentic and delicious, and you really won’t go hungry!

If you only eat once at the hotel, it has to be Aromi, a destination in its own right, this award-winning restaurant offers a unique culinary journey in an intimate and elegant atmosphere whether you eat inside or out. Choose from wine-paired dinners led by the ‘aromas’ of the city and wider regions of Italy, tasting menus and individual mouth-watering dishes.

The pan-fried foie gras, pistachio, carrot puree and fig marmalade was a mirage of textures and tastes as was the Mazara del Vallo prawns served with leeks, black currant sauce and lime. Spaghetti with Canadian lobster, zucchini and tomato sauce made a great choice as did the Turbot fish fillet with black squid ink and cauliflower puree, nothing disappoints it’s all freshly prepared and is a real treat to the taste buds, full of fresh seasonal flavours, you can almost taste the culinary passion in each mouthful.

This exquisite experience is al-fresco dining at its best, with seating close to the water’s edge, you savour each mouthful as you breathe in all the wonderous sights of Venice. Watching day slowly turn to night as the sun sets and the sky lights up with twinkling stars, you soak it all up and begin to understand why it’s said to be one of the most romantic cities in the world.
